Kelley, Robert (family) : Robert Kelley (d. 1833) was the son of Judge James Kelley who immigrated to Yarmouth County, N.S. from Massachussetts in 1765. Robert and his son, Captain Robert M. Kelley (d. 1844) owned land at Kelley's Cove and operated a small fleet of schooners and brigantines. They were engaged in coasting trade, and acted as general merchants and ship chandlers. Robert Sr. was appointed Commissioner of Fisheries for Yarmouth County in 1828 and he was an active shareholder in the Marine Insurance Company, 1809, and Yarmouth Academy, 1830.
