The International Nickel Company of Canada, Limited

The film focusses mainly on the social life of Thompson, Manitoba. Most of the "characters" (all presumably employed by Inco) are young men who are shown enjoying Thompson's leisure, shopping and recreation facilities (i.e. dance bar, restaurants, golf course, skiins, hockey rink, etc). The action takes place in both summer and winter, though little footage deals with the work-place itself. Brief musical interludes feature "The Ballad of Thompson" being sung over footage from the "early days" of Thompson, and a matted "mining" sequence. The idyllic opening sequence and other shots capture the rugged beauty of the area. The film also includes shots of the local school, and several families relaxing at home, or enjoying the outdoors. <20mn>
