Saint John Trades and Labour Council : The Saint John Trades and Labour Council was organized in the year 1890 as the governing body of organized labour in Saint John, composed of delegates from each affiliated union. The Trades and Labor Council has been an important factor in the labor movement, placing representatives on the governing boards of many public institutions. The council has also been instrumental in bringing to satisfactory conclusion many controversies affecting the welfare of its affiliated membership.
