Protestant Orphans' Home : The "Orphans' Home of the City of Ottawa" was incorporated in March 1865, (28 Ivc., Cap. 62), following its establishment the previous December under the name of the "Ottawa Protestant Benevolent Association." Its object was the provision of a house of refuge for destitute children and widows. The name was changed again in 1914.
