Fonds consists of the papers of Philemon Wright, his family and the firm Philemon Wright and Sons, Hull, Lower Canada, 1792-1884, 12.62 m, and transcript, 1802-1884, 1 cm; diary of Philemon Wright, photocopy, 26 October to 11 November 1834 and 31 May to 28 November 1835, 74 pages; estate and business records, 1845, 0.5 cm, photocopy, 1820, 1834-1835, 16 pages, and transcript, 1806-1876, 26 pages; lumbering and land business papers, microfilm, 1816-1862. The material is on microfilm reel M-235.

Wright, Philemon (family) : Philemon Wright (1761-1839) came to the present site of Hull, Que. from New England in 1800, and began both farming and lumbering operations there. Wright took the first raft of square timber from the Ottawa area down to Que. City in 1806. He and his sons, Philemon, Tiberius, Ruggles and Christopher were prominent local citizens who actively participated in the argicultural and commercial expansion of the region, as well as taking part in political and militia affairs.
