The marine superintendent of the Halifax [Lightridge] dock facilities built in 1941 by the Dominion Government and operated by the Canadian National Railways, describes the docks. They were built to make more freight cars available for moving war materials quickly. This is followed by the sound of machinery. An unidentified man, in three takes, speaks about building wooden ships in Lunenburg Nova Scotia. Another man speaks, in two takes, about his great-grandfather who came to Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia from Hanover in 1770.
