Fonds consists of correspondence, land and family records of the Parmelee family. Of note is the private correspondence of William Grannis Parmelee, the first deputy Minister of the Department of Trade and Commerce, Canada, from 1893 to 1908.

Parmelee (family) : The Parmelee family of the province of Quebec includes such notable figures as William Grannis Parmelee (b. 1833 in Waterloo, Province of Quebec), the first Deputy Minister of the Department of Trade and Commerce (1893-1908). William Grannis was son to Rotus Parmelee, M.D., and Sarah Grannis (b. 1809) of Stanstead, Eastern Township of Quebec. Other family members in the public service included Charles Henry Parmelee and George William Parmelee, also of Waterloo, P.Q. Morgan, Henry James, ed. The Canadian Men of the Time: A Handbook of Canadian Biography of Living Characters. 2nd ed. Toronto: William Briggs, 1912.
