Walford, Alfred, b. 1896 : Born 20 August 1896, at Montreal, Quebec, Alfred Ernest Walford, military officer, entered the Canadian Army as a Private in 1914, and advanced through grades to Major-General (1944). He served with Royal Canadian Artillery, 1914-1939, and with 1st Canadian Division and 1st Canadian Corps, 1939-1943. He was Chief Administrative Staff Officer, 1st Canadian Forces, 1944-1946. He retired from the Army in 1946. (See Canadian who's Who, 1987, p. 1440-1441.)
