Creelman, John Jennings, 1882-1949 : Colonel John Jennings Creelman, born in 1882 at Toronto, Ont., was educated at Upper Canada College, University of Toronto, B.A., 1904, McGill University, B.C.L., 1907, and University of Grenoble, France. He was a partner in Creelman and Walsh, and held a number of positions with industrial corporations including president of Canadian Cutler Mill Chute Co. Ltd., vice-president of Hackbridge Transformer Co. of Canada Ltd., director of Liquid Carbine Canadian Corporation Ltd., and director of Fraser & Chalmers of Canada Ltd. He became an advocate in 1907, was appointed K.C. in 1919 and served as an alderman on Montreal City Council from 1918-1926.

Colonel J.J. Creelman served for many years in the Canadian military. He served with the Canadian Field Artillery during World War I. He was Colonel in command of the 2nd (Montreal) Regiment of Canadian Artillery, 1920-1922, and honorary colonel of the same regiment, 1934-1947.

He remained active in Veterans Affairs through his involvement as honorary president of the Army and Navy Veterans Association (Montreal branch), and past president of the Great War Veterans Association.
