Fonds consists of a letter from Hunter-Duvar to Lawrence Burpee concerning their literary work, 22 November 1898, 4 pages; manuscripts and annotated clippings of Hunter-Duvar's poems "John A' Var's Last Lay", "A New Ballad of the Bambino and Zingarella", "The Girdle", "The Ballad of the Jessie Ann", "The Forging of Tisona", and "A Canticle for Dominion Day", 32 pages; notes on the potential production of a dramatic poem and on a projected volume of poetry, 2 pages; photocopy of a poem presented to Hunter-Duvar by Charles G.D. Roberts, 16 November 1881, 1 page.

Hunter-Duvar, John, 1830-1899 : John Hunter-Duvar was born in Scotland but spent most of his life in the Maritime provinces of Canada. From 1879 to 1889 he was dominion inspector of fisheries for Prince Edward Island where he later lived in retirement. He was a writer of romantic prose, and poetry.
