Fonds consists of a letterbook compiled by A.J. Alport of Simcoe County, Ont., with an index by correspondent, 1873-1877. The majority of the letters deal with business matters, while some are concerned with church and community affairs.

Alport, A. J., flourished 1873-1877 : A.J. Alport was the official assignee for Simcoe County during the 1870's. At the same time he appears to have been the local agent for the Royal Insurance Company of Montreal. In 1877 he was appointed Treasurer of the town of Orillia. He was active in church and community organizations.
