Macdermot, Hugh Ernest, b. 1888 : Dr. Hugh Ernest Macdermot, physician and historian, served as editor of the Canadian Medical Association Journal from 1942 to 1955, and is the author of numerous books and articles on the history of medicine in Canada. His books include One Hundred Years of Medicine in Canada, 1867-1967 (Toronto, 1967), History of the Montreal General Hospital (Montreal, 1950) Maude Abbott: A Memoir (Toronto, 1941), and Sir Thomas Roddick: His Work in Medicine and Public Life (Toronto, 1938).
