Fonds consists of microfilm of typescripted journals kept by Alfred Stephenson, during the British Arctic Air Route Expedition under H.G. Watkins, 6 July 1930 to 19 August 1931, and the British Polar Year Expedition to Fort Rae, under J.M. Stagg, 14 May 1932 to 4 October 1933. This material is located on microfilm reel A-822.

Stephenson, Alfred : Alfred Stephenson, born in England, was a professor in the geography department at Cambridge University. From 1930 to 1932, he was chief surveyor on the British Arctic Air Route Expedition, which was investigating the possibilities of an air route between England and Canada via the Furoes, Iceland, Greenland, Baffin Island and Hudson Bay. He was an important party to other expeditions in the North as well.
