Fonds consists of correspondence between Dr. Webster and Dr. Charles E. Parsons, medical officer of the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital, Twillingate, Nfld., concerning the founding and early years of the hospital. Photocopy, 18 pages.

Webster, Leslie T., 1894-1943 : Dr. Webster, an epidemiologist, was born in New York, N.Y., and received his B.A. from Amherst, in 1915, and his M.D. in 1919, from John Hopkins Medical School. In 1921, he joined the Rockefellar Institute of New York as an assistant in pathology and bacteriology, and by 1934 had attained the rank of Member of the Institute. Through his work on the mechanism of the spread of disease in animal populations, Dr. Webster was largely responsible for the establishment of the special branch of the science of epidemics known as "experimental epidemiology", of which he was the foremost American exponent.
