Black, William A : Dr. William Black, geographer, led a field party from the Geographical Branch of the Department of Mines and Technical Surveys to Labrador, between 1949 and 1952, to collect scientific information, and to interview fishermen and merchants. It was part of a programme to study the economic geography of Labrador and the adjustment of the inhabitants to their environment. The results of the programme were published in 1953, as the "Report on the Development of the Use of Resources of the Labrador and White Bay Districts".
