58 photographs multiple processes, b&w.Language of material:EnglishScope and content:Fonds consists of family correspondence to Carl Reinhardt during his early surveying career in Ontario, 1890-1901, including letters from A.E. Morris, maternal uncle, engineer with The Toronto Hamilton and Buffalo Railway. Includes applications for work with the Lake Superior Power Company and the Algoma Central Railway Company; correspondence regarding Central Counties Railway Company, 1895-1900, and from MacKenzie, Mann & Co., contractors for Ontario & Rainy River Railway Company, 1899-1901. Also includes a series of letters written during W.W.I from England.
Fonds also consists of photographs of: mining activity at Cobalt, Kirkland Lake, Silver Cliff, Cross Lake, Tobum, and Valentine, Ont.; immigrant workers on railway constructions; surveying; Perth, Ont.; and portraits of Carl Reinhardt and family. Bradley of Perth, and Royal Photo Studio, Ottawa.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Reinhardt, Carl, 1876-1962 : Born in Montreal, Carl Reinhardt studied civil and mining engineering at McGill University. He was licensed as an Ontario land surveyor in 1899. Subsequently he was employed in the construction of the Canadian Northern Railway in the Port Arthur and Rainy River areas, and over the years he was employed as a surveyor, consulting engineer and mine manager. In 1950 a rich silver ore body was developed on his Cross Lake claims which he had staked in 1907.Additional information:General note:Received in 1971 and 1981 from Douglas S.
