Description:

This radio documentary employs satirical songs, skits, narrative and interviews to analyze the current social and economic situation in Canada and suggest directions for the future. Among those interviewed in this second and final portion of the program are: Justice Thomas Berger, who is conducting a government inquiry into plans for a MacKenzie Valley Pipeline; Margaret Atwood, author; Hugh MacLennan, author; Dr. David Suzuki, geneticist; and Marshall McLuhan, communications theorist. Topics discussed in this portion include: the pipeline inquiry in relation to environmental values versus progress; the possibility of Quebec separating from the rest of Canada; the importance of image in political life; moral and environmental problems in relation to scientific advances; the emancipation of women; and communications developments such as "incasting", which links the telephone to the television. <60mn>
