For complete subject description, see ISN 22006. The narration in this film matches that of the English revision (ISN 94737) except for a marked difference in speaker selection and emphasis. The major differences include: shortest version of the three O'Leary keynote address; Macdonnell opens the Convention in French only; Lionel Choquette, rather than Grattan O'Leary introduces John Bracken; Antonio L'Anglais, rather than Fred Gardiner, makes the short speech on the dangers of Communism; Mrs. Bray's resolution from the floor is deleted; Miss Johnson and the reading of Resolution 19 regarding the status of women is completely deleted and replaced with the reading of a Resolution of Federal-Provincial relations; Senator Ives; Mrs. Ralston are deleted; Yvon Sabourin, in seconding the nomination for George Drew gives a long French speech; Fleming's speech is in French and much longer than either version; Méthot replaces Macdonnell for instructions during the balloting; a sequence of Mr. Drew, speaking in French, is added to his acceptance speech; Mrs. Drew speaks in French. The most striking shift in emphasis is the deletion of the bulk of the material dealing with the participation of women in this Convention.
