Television program exploring basic questions concerning the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. Michael Oliver, assistant professor of political science at McGill University, interviews leading Canadian historians about the discrepancies between history books used in French Canada and those used in English Canada; the two sets of contradictory facts about the Battle of the Plains of Abraham; the repercussion in Canada of the British conquest; the historical attitudes of Canada's two major language groups towards each other, and today's attitudes towards their co-existence; and the question of teaching a uniform history to both English and French students in Canada. Those interviewed are: Guy Fregault, head of the history department at Ottawa University; Father Georges-Henri Lévesque, O.P., noted sociologist and director of La Maison Montmorency, a Dominican advance study institution near Quebec City; Chanoine Lionel Groulx, Montréal historian; Mgr. Arthur Maheux, Quebec City Historian; Hilda Neatby, University of Saskatchewan; George F. Stanley, Royal Military College, Kingston; and Professor A.L. Burt, University of Minnesota. Includes interviews with representative Canadians answering the same questions about the battle; and sequence on a visit to the Wolfe-Montcalm exhibit at the National Archives in Ottawa. <30mn>
