This is part of the Coronation ceremony of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, from the entry of the King into Westminster Abbey until immediately before his actual coronation. A commentator describes the ceremony to come. The assembly awaits the entrance of the King through the west door. The King then enters. The choir boys of Westminster School sing "Vivats". The King and Queen kneel in prayer on the South side of the Altar. The King moves to the centre of Westminster Abbey and takes part in the recognition ceremony. He returns to the chair of estate. The Archbishop goes to the Altar. A description of the Altar is given. The Bible, bread and chalice are brought for Communion. The Lords bring the items of regalia and Edward's crown. The King takes the coronation oath. He then goes to the Altar, kneels, places his hand on the Holy Gospel and reaffirms his promise. He kisses the Bible and signs his oath. He also makes and signs a declaration affirming his Protestant faith. Following the Archbishop's return to the Altar, there is a Communion service. The King is then annointed with oil by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Music by Handel is played. The King is presented with the Sword of Justice. He returns to Edward's chair. He receives a robe, ring, orb and gloves.
