HawkinsDescription:A disc sound recording entitled, "Irving Layton at Le Hibou" of Canadian poet, Irving Layton, reciting from his book, "A Red Carpet For The Sun", recorded live at Ottawa's famed folk coffee house, "Le Hibou". Canadian writer, Roy MacSkimming, in the jacket notes, points out that there was a line-up two blocks long waiting to hear Mr. Layton that evening. "A historic event" remarks the writer. He adds, "the poems heard make an excellent, "Selected Poems", an introduction to Layton's voluminous output. On the recording there is the most hilarious showmanship, as in "What Ulysses Said To Circe on the Beach at Aeaea", and the most moving tenderness, in the poem for his daughter". <40mn>Language:EnglishNotes: -
