The recording begins in mid-speech. Eden speak about the forces and events which have been let loose and how acutely England needs to defend herself from "the gathering storms". He also warns that "a false-complacency is the works-calamity that can befall any nation in dangerous times". Nevertheless, the enumeration of the shortcomings of Britain does not mean faint-heartedness: Britain still cares deeply and strongly for the same things; it wants freedom and security and peace. He states that "democracy is a university in which we learn from one another. The survival of democracy must depend upon the faith that it inspires." Despite the differences between England and the U.S. their conception of the state is very much the same. He also states that democracy has many forms and many sides. The recording ends in mid-sentence. <15mn>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
