The film, made two years prior to his death, opens in London, England, at a dinner party given by architect Lord Llewelyn Davis at his home during Gropius' 1967 visit to Europe, then moves to Berlin to show some of Gropius' early buildings. Gropius was the founder of the Bauhaus School of Architecture in Germany in 1919 which was closed by Hitler in 1933. He left the country and went to England, then to the United States in 1939 where he headed the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the School of Architecture. As the program shows, he remained active into his mid-eighties. <30mn>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
