This is a speech on the subject of friendship between the English and American peoples given by Anthony Eden to the Stratford-on-Avon branch of the English Speaking Union at its Memorial Dinner. He stresses the friendship and the unity of heritage and ideals of the English and American peoples. He does not discuss the Munich crisis except to say that neither the British nor the American people approve of a large country settling disputes with a smaller one by force. He recalls his pessimistic June predictions and states that the situation is still deteriorating and that Britain must make a stand before it is too late. <13mn>
