Photographs of individuals from the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuut'ina, and Stoney Nakoda First Nations participating in the Calgary Stampede. The Elbow River Camp, formerly and at the time of photographing the "Indian Village Heritage Center", has been a major part of the Calgary Stampede since the inception in 1912. In the camp, couples from First Nations across the prairies set up teepees for Stampede visitors, and decorate them as part of a competition. Drumming and dance competitions are also held on the village stage. The public events invite visitors to experience the traditions and culture of First Nations peoples from the Treaty 7 nations firsthand.

Burton photographed those participating in the Opening parade, at Elbow River Camp - the teepees and the families (e.g. Crowshoe family), events happening around the camp (e.g. Children's powwow), a range of individuals in varying degrees of traditional dress, and performances both in camp and in the Stampede arena (e.g. Lisa Odjig hoop dancing following a riding event).

Also included are photographs of Mike Bruised Head, PhD - Ninnaa Piiksii (Chief Bird) and his wife Barbara Jadis-Bruised Head (Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Alberta, August 2004). Mike Bruised Head is an advocate for the Blackfoot people, participated in historic protests for the recognition of the rights of Canada's First Nations, and formed Kainai Eco-systems Protection Agency (KEPA) in 2012. The couple stands in front of a teepee at a cultural camp for visitors, Mike Bruised Head is wearing a ceremonial blanket.

The series also includes some scenic images from around the Drumheller Badlands and Ft. McLeod.
