Turtle lodge is a sacred lodge of the Anishinabe Peoples located Sagkeeng First Nation on the Southern tip of Lake Winnipeg (Fort Alexander, Manitoba). The photographs in this series document the Lodge, camps, and the families and friends of those participating in the 2004 Sun Dance. As in most Sun Dance ceremonies, it is forbidden to film the ceremony or prayer. With permission from Elder Dave Courchene, Burton photographed elements surrounding the ceremony. The ribbon tree, cooking class, women's circle, the structures, petroforms, Turtle Lodge (built in 2002), sweat lodge, and some of the activities.

Of this series, Burton exhibited the Tree of Offering and the Entrance to Warrior Circle for Ceremony and Change. The latter photograph features "two staffs with eagle feathers that welcome dancers to the warrior dance enclosure at Turtle Lodge. The empty chairs reflect the privacy of these ceremonies, [as] photography of the dances is not permitted." (Julia Murphy, 2005)
