Canada. Adjustment Assistance Board : The Adjustment Assistance Board (sometimes referred to as the Automotive Adjustment Assistance Board) was created in 1965, reporting to the Minister of Industry and with a secretariat in the Department of Industry. The board was initially chaired by economist Vincent Bladen (then the Dean of Arts and Science Faculty, University of Toronto) and was made up of Deputy Minister's of the Departments of Industry; Finance; Trade and Commence; and Labour.

The board administered two types of assistance available to the Canadian automotive parts industry created as a result of the Canada-United States Automotive Products Agreement (commonly referred to as the Auto Pact). The first was a loan program designed to help businesses expand or modernize their facilities, allowing them to take advantage of opportunities created through the new agreement. The second was a tariff remission program to compensate businesses who found it necessary to import certain equipment.

When the Department of Industry was succeeded by the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce in April 1969, the Adjustment Assistance Board's responsibilities and secretariat were also transferred to the new department.

The board's functions ceased in June 1971. The loan program became the responsibility of the General Adjustment Assistance Board (GAAB) while the responsibility for tariff remissions was transferred to the Machinery and Equipment Advisory Board (MEAB).
