The accession consists of film and sound elements for a documentary that was not completed before the death of their creator, Maurice Constant. Constant was a member of Canada's Mackenzie-Papineau Brigade or "Mac-Paps", part of the volunteer International Battalion that fought on the side of the Republic in the Spanish Civil War. This material documents his return to the battlefields and towns of Spain with his fellow Canadian veterans following the death of Francisco Franco in 1979 and again in 1986 and 1988. The accession also includes the three part television series "The Last Cause" released in 1976 by Alex Cramer.
