White worked with the amateur society when it was the Ottawa Drama Guild, just after the First World War. She also remembers the building of the Ottawa Little Theatre in 1928 and the group's change of name, the Russell Theatre, the Canadian Repertory Theatre, the Amateur Children's Theatre and the school of the theatre. The Governors General Lord Grey, Lord Willingdon and Lord Bessborough are described with reference to their involvement in the theatre. Play writing, competition, training in the theatre and funding are discussed.
