This sub-series contains the records of the Strategic Operations Center. Created at the beginning of the October Crisis and headed by Jim Davey, the Special Operations Center, later called the Strategic Operations Center, was tasked with studying the situation, gathering documentation and proposing strategies.

The documents were generally arranged in alphabetical order. However, some have been grouped under specific subjects within the subseries. For example:

"Diary" (vols. 38-39) and "General" (vols. 42-43) chronologically group documents produced on a day-to-day basis.

FLQ Documentation" (vols. 40-42) contains documents in numerical order.

The "Media" section (vols. 44-46) contains press clippings and press reviews in chronological order.

Copies of correspondence from the Prime Minister's Office (vols. 46-47) are found arranged in chronological order under the subject "PMO Correspondence."
