Item is a letter from John Norton to Robert Barclay, Grand River, 20 October 1806 (transcription?).

Norton gives an account of the General Council held at Lake Ontario [Fort George, July 28, 1806]. He criticizes the attitude of William Claus and the "Indian Department". He talks about the "money of the Five Nations", interests and annuities. He mentions the presence of Judge Thorpe, "lately from New York". He talks about Mr Russel [Peter Russel], mentions that John Graves Simcoe used to visit Indigenous communities when he was lieutenant governor of Upper Canada, etc.
