Monk, Lorraine : Lorraine Monk, Officer of the Order of Canada and founding Executive Director of the Canadian Museum of Photography was, from 1960 to 1980, the Executive Director of the Still Photography Division, of the National Film Board of Canada. She is the recipient of 2 honorary doctorates (York University, Doctorate of Letters, and Carleton, Doctor of Literature), and many other honours, for her contributions to Canadian photography.

Pachter, Charles, 1942- : Born in Toronto on Dec. 30, 1942, Charles Pachter is one of Canada's leading contemporary artists. He is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, historian and lecturer. He holds degrees from the University of Toronto, the Sorbonne and the Cranbrook Academy of Art. He holds an honorary doctorate from Brock University and is a member of the Order of Canada.

Atwood, Margaret, 1939- : Prolific author Margaret Atwood was born in Ottawa, on 18 November 1939. She attended Victoria College, University of Toronto, Radcliffe and Harvard. She began her career in the 1960s, teaching English and at first publishing poetry, short stories and literary criticism. She has written more than 30 literary works and has been translated into more than 25 languages. Her best known novels are The Edible Woman (1969), Surfacing (1972), Lady Oracle (1976), Life Before Man (1979), Bodily Harm (1981), The Handmaid's Tale (1985), Cat's Eye (1988) and Robber Bride (1993). She adds to her collection non-fiction and children's litterature. In 1966, she won the Governor General's Award for The Circle Game and again in 1968 for The Handmaid's Tale. In 1980 Margaret Atwood became vice-chairman of the Writers' Union of Canada, and president of PEN International's Anglo-Canadian branch from 1984 to 1986.
