This sub-series (formerly sub-series E XIV) contains prints by photographers such as Mathers of Edmonton, F.E. Garber of Nova Scotia, J.A. Irvine of Halifax, J.W. Bald of Midland, and various anonymous photographers and includes views of outdoors scenes, places and events, many unidentified, largely in Canada but some American, and organized alphabetically by subject matter. Examples of the subjects, and the views associated them, include: Disasters and Accidents, Railway: includes extensive coverage of locomotive derails, collisions, etc. in both Canada and USA; Historical Events: "First Passenger Train to Vancouver, B.C., May 23, 1887."; Indians: Indian Camps on Nipigon River, 1889 and Indian Village, Dominion Exhibition, Halifax, 1906; Industries: such as food processing (views in an abattoir), lumbering, machine and railway shops, mining, shipbuilding and repair services which include machines and vehicles of all types, interiors & exteriors; Merchandising: shops; Photographic: photographers at work; Transportation: which includes vehicles (particularly cars, trucks and buses), of all types, often unidentified, as well as air planes, bridges, derricks, horse and dog powered vehicles, some unidentified railway views, elevated and incline railways, roundhouses and electric streetcars. Among the water transportation is a view of the Quebec Harbour Commission lifting barge (1870's), and a variety of dredges, harbour & dock views, ferries, sailing ships, steamers, and tugs.
