This sub-series (formerly sub-series D IV) contains two small binders of American and Canadian steam locomotives with details about the engines, and loose views of steam locomotives in Canada and the United States including Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, St. Louis & San Francisco, Missouri, Grand Trunk Western, Pere Marquette, Lehigh Valley. Additionally there are views of U.S. Army and Canadian National Defence locomotives built by Davenport-Besler Company of Iowa, and views of electric street cars, largely of Canadian cities, including Toronto; B. C. Company; Ottawa; Hamilton; Calgary; Montreal; Winnipeg; St. Catharines and various other American and Canadian railways.

The sub-series also contains a steamship series of photographs on Cornwall Canal (1957) and Galop Canal (1953), and some prints of the Andrew A. Merrilees storefront and Merrilees personal snapshots.
