Includes the following descriptive text on the dam construction "Dam commenced in July 1827 from NE side of the River, and when formed within 60 feet of the opposite side, the contractor underwent to close the opening with large blocks of Limestone, Brushwood and Clay over which was built a Log bridge, the key works was 27 feet higher and the whole contents of the dam 27828 cubic yards".
