Description:

Second television documentary program of a four-part series, offers a portrait of William "Bible Bill" Aberhart, radio evangelist and one of Canada's outstanding provincial premiers of the thirties. Host and narrator, Prof. John Saywell of the University of Toronto, outlines the highlights of Aberhart's careers as a preacher, teacher, and politician, which led him to the premiership of Alberta in 1935 as head of the first Social Credit government in the world. Saywell also interviews Premier Ernest C. Manning of Alberta; Aberhart's daughter, Ola McNett?; former friends and associates, Florence Todd (retired teacher), J.F. Lymburn (attorney-general), Fred Kennedy (journalist), Albert Vital Boucher (former member of the Alberta Legislation), and Clifford Willmart. Includes archival photos and footage of Aberhart and the depression years in Alberta. <30mn>
