This sub-sub-series contains a series of briefing books for Summits in Puerto Rico in 1976, for Venice in 1980, for Ottawa in 1981, for Versailles in 1982, for Williamsburg in 1983 and for the London Summit in 1984. The records illustrates how Allan J. MacEachen's office prepared for a summit and how the summits were organized. Also included are reports that were written after the summit which summarize what the summit achieved. Most of the summits focused on economic growth, debt repayment of heavily indebted countries and North/South economic relations. The most notable of the Summits was the Williamsburg Summit of 1983. This summit welcomed seven heads of States from France, United Kingdom, Japan, United State, Canada, Italy and West Germany, who debated on a variety of subjects, most notably the economic stagnation of the early 80's and the debt crisis of many African countries.
