The subjects discussed are the global financial crisis; the challenges faced by different countries; unemployment; the auto sector bailout (anticipated effects of President Bush's restructuring plan, discussion with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty); activity in December 2008 ( writing throne speech, economic action plan, filling senate seats, museum opening in Winnipeg); strength of the banking sector in Canada; having to run a deficit; support for Air Canada and Davey shipyard; implementing Canada's Economic Action Plan; and reflections on Jim Flaherty. File includes audio and audiovisual versions of the interview, as well as a transcription produced by Durham Reporting & Mediation Services.
