This collection was compiled by Annik Charbonneau and her mother, Francine Grignon Charbonneau, due to the summers that they spent in Baie-Saint-Paul, Charlevoix, where Gabrielle Roy also stayed. It reflects the interest that Annik Charbonneau and Francine Grignon Charbonneau had in Gabrielle Roy, as well as the author's relationships with people from Québec and Montréal who also spent summers in Charlevoix. The collection includes a typescript entitled "Ma vache " (published as Ma vache Bossie by Leméac in 1976), accompanied by a letter from Gabrielle Roy presenting the manuscript to Annik Charbonneau; a copy of the Revue de la société d'histoire de Charlevoix (Vol. 1, No. 2, April 1986) and various newspaper articles (press clippings and photocopies) about Gabrielle Roy; a note from the author to Annik Charbonneau; and copies of the novels La petite poule d'eau (Éditions Beauchemin, 1950) and Alexandre Chenevert (Éditions Beauchemin, 1954) with dedications to Francine G. Charbonneau.

Charbonneau, Annik, 1945- : Charbonneau, Annik (1945- )

Annik Charbonneau was a math teacher at the CEGEP in Sherbrooke. She was the daughter of Fernand Charbonneau, pharmacist and chemist, and Francine Grignon Charbonneau, co-founder of the Victor-Doré school for children with physical disabilities. Annik Charbonneau spent part of her childhood summers at the Belle-Plage hotel in Baie-Saint-Paul, Charlevoix. Although originally from Montréal, her parents were regulars in the region, becoming friends with the owners of the Belle-Plage hotel and staying there during summers from 1936-37 to 1975.

General note:

This collection also included a copy of Bonheur d'occasion (Éditions Pascal, 1945, Vol. 1 and 2), La montagne secrète (Éditions Beauchemin, 1961) and La route d'Altamont (Éditions HMH, 1966). Inside each of these copies, Annik's mother inscribed her name, Francine G. Charbonneau. For more information, see the copies of these books in the Library and Archives Canada collection. Their control numbers (OCLC) are, in order, 301265409, 299954895 and 491051880.
