The fonds consist of six volumes all relating to the career of Pauline Sabourin, as part of her role as secretary to several undersecretaries of External Affairs in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.

The fonds has been organized into three series: Agendas, External Affairs Meetings and Travel, and Personal. Series 1 and 2 are organized by date and Series 3 is organized alphabetically by title.

Sabourin, Pauline, 1928-2019 : Marie Audree Pauline Sabourin was born on 7 July 1928 in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario to Rosanna Brunet and Rémi Sabourin. Ms. Sabourin moved to Ottawa in March 1935, she attended St. Peter's School and then Sacred Heart School until June 1942.

Ms. Sabourin began her career in the public service by working as a stenographer for the Embassy of France from 1945-48 and then continued her work with External Affairs. She was the secretary for five undersecretaries of External Affairs throughout the 1950's, 1960s, and 1970s. In this role, Ms. Sabourin supported the work of various Deputy Ministers, Ministers, and Prime Ministers in relation to foreign policy. From 1956 to 1977, she attended missions with Canadian delegates such as Mitchell Sharp, Paul Martin Sr., and George Ignatieff and participated in missions to China, USSR, Latin America, the Middle East, as well as various NATO and UN summits. The undersecretaries she worked with include Norman Alexander Robinson, Marcel Cadieux, Albert Edgar Ritchie, H. Basil Robinson, Jules Leger, and Allan Gotlieb.

In 1966, Ms. Sabourin was awarded the Laval University Memorial Medal and was appointed as a member of the Order of Canada in 1975. She passed on 20 May 2019 in her residence in Ottawa, Ontario.
