From the interview with James Hoggan: "There is a debate about climate change and whether or not it's a problem-but it's not a scientific debate. Right now, for example, in the United States, almost half of Americans believe that climate scientists are disagreeing, are debating, about whether or not climate change is a problem. But if you ask climate scientists that same question, "How many climate scientists are disagreeing about whether or not climate change is happening?" Depending on how you ask the question, the numbers are pretty close to zero, but certainly below 2 percent. And if you ask the question of whether or not they're actually disagreeing in the scientific literature, it's zero.

"So here you have this kind of public perception that's really out of sync with what's actually happening in the scientific world. Climate scientists think the climate is changing and that it's going to have big impacts on really important things like food, water, the weather patterns-extreme weather-on sea levels, and certainly on species extinction and a whole variety of different types of issues. We've never really faced such a serious environmental crisis in our lifetime."

Hoggan is the founder of the enormously popular DeSmogBlog, which exposes organizations and individuals he considers unethical, that are practicing bad PR and attempting to deny climate change.
