The fonds consists of a children's neighbourhood 'newspaper' entitled the 'Cherokee Gas Bag' from 1922. This is a handwritten account of activities in the neighbourhood, written by Ralph Erskine and his brothers James, John and Gordon.

The fonds also contains approximately 120 letters from S/Sgt Ralph Stuart Erskine to his wife Ruth between 1941 and 1945. The letters cover all elements of Erskine's service. Although he never revealed secrets about the 220 Military Mission, Erskine revealed where he is writing from and gave vivid impressions of these places in wartime.
