Sub-series consists of memorandums written by the staff of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC), and the Conservative Resource Group (CRG) seeking advice from the Prime Minister

These memorandums, and their supporting documentation, were part of the Prime Minister's "night files" (memos, letters, and notes to be reviewed that evening). The Prime Minister reviewed the memorandums every evening, added marginal notes and comments by hand, then returned the night file to his support staff. The original memorandums were returned to their author, whereas hard copies were stored for future reference. The hard copies were filed in folders named for their author when the author was strongly associated to a department and there was no risk of confusion. Otherwise, the memorandums were filed in folders named for the PMO department in which the author worked or in folders named for the CPC or the CRG.

Arrangement note:

The sub-series was arranged by the archivists to group together files named for a staff member with the files named for the department in which they worked.
