Our Democratic King and Queen. Touching Incidents in Visit to Tyneside. King George V and Queen Mary are followed by a group of children. They walk through a shipyard and visit with town officials. King George V then decorates soldiers and hands a widow and her son a decoration. Soldiers line up and march in the streets.~Lord French Presents Shield and Badges to Vets for Distinguished Rifle Shooting. Soldiers receive a variety of prizes.~German Families Embark for Holland. Men and women mount the gangplank of the Boston Floating Hospital which then pulls away from the dock.~Launch of a Standard Ship. Painted ship pulls out of its slip for the first time.~In an American Port. British submarine in an American port. Men are on top of the sub, their laundry can be seen drying. Men wave from the deck of the submarine's mothership.~Scottish Workers. Scots line the streets as a motorcade carrying King George V passes.~Allied Conference in London. The French Premier, M. Ribot, speaks with colleagues.~Our Naval Heroes. O. Nash receives the Croix de guerre from Sir Henry Jackson at the Dreadnought Hospital, Greenwich, England. His wife and son look on.~Belleville, Ontario, The Moira River on The Rampage. The river is blocked with huge chunks of ice. Dynamite breaks the ice near the railway bridge. Men measure themselves against the ice chunks. People use rowboats to get around.~Southampton, England, An Odd Challenge. One-legged swimmer dives from the bridge of a ship.~Woking, England, The Feast of Sacrifice. The town's Muslim population is seen at prayer. <10mn>

1. Found in Bill Galloway's vault (Rockliffe) after his retirement.~2. Item titles derived from captions.~3. Floods in Belleville may date from the spring of 1920 when Frank O'Byrne shot footage there for British-Canadian Pathé News.~4. Actuality footage over 50 years - copyright expired.~5. Appears to be newsreel of largely British newsreel stories, to which Canadian items were added for the Canadian audience. Circa this date, Specialty Film Import Limited, held the distribution rights to Pathé films in Canada and inserted Canadian footage into the Pathé newsreels imported from Britain.
