File consists of a leather bound album containing photographs taken on George M. Dawson's 1876 and 1878 expeditions of the Geological Survey of Canada. The purpose of these expeditions was to survey northern British Columbia. The photographs include prints from GSC negatives 132 to 154 and 221 to 278. The photographs from the 1876 expedition depict landscape views and Indigneous settlements in the interior of British Columbia, including Blackwater and Nechako Rivers, Fort Fraser, and Fort George. The photographs from the 1878 expedition depict Haida villages at Skedans, Skidegate, Masset, Kunghit, and Fort Rupert on Haida Gwaii (formerly Queen Charlotte Islands).
