Carmen and Robert Perren moved to the Yukon from Switzerland. They live with their children Anjoy, Lou and Ava in the mountains at the Wheaton River. Here they have the life style they always dreamed of, in a beautiful place far away from civilization. The documentary follows the family through the seasons: ice skating on the frozen river in the winter, snow melt and floods in the spring, the long summer days, and then the beautiful colours of Indian Summer in the fall. This life style requires an enormous amount of hard work. Everything needs to be planned accurately and in detail. The water comes from the river, electricity from solar panels. It’s not easy to organize a life with three little children if you don’t have a bathroom, washing machine or dishwasher. There’s always something that needs to be repaired or looked after, and sometimes life can be quite dangerous; after a grizzly bear killed one of the sheep, Carmen and Robert had to build a fence around their property to protect their children and their animals from bears, wolves and coyotes. <22mn 9s>
