Bruce, J. P. (James P.), 1928- : James Bruce (born 1928) is a consultant, researcher and author specializing in the areas of climate change, climate change adaptation, water management, water pollution, and mitigation of natural disasters. He received a Master's in Physics (Meteorology) from the University of Toronto (U of T). Early in his career, he established a flood warning system for Ontario and taught at U of T. Later, he was the first Director of the Canada Centre for Inland Waters, Assistant Deputy Minister at Environment Canada and Acting Deputy Secretary-general with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), among other positions. He is a recipient of the Massey Medal from the Canadian Geographical Society, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and an Officer of the Order of Canada.
