Accession consists of records created or maintained by the Canadian Government Office of Tourism (CGOT) of the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce (ITC). Reporting directly to the Deputy Minister, the office was responsible for promoting travel both in Canada and abroad.

Subjects include, but are not limited to: promotional activities (including marketing services, advertising and direct mail campaigns), tourism market development (including policy planning, industry relations, and program development), tourism industry research (surveys, studies, projects, and other research), as well as the Management Assistance Program (MAP) and the Travel Industry Development Program (TIDP). Records also document the general operation of the branch, such as committees, meetings, conferences, program planning, program evaluation, and parliamentary affairs.

The prints found in this accession relate to various advertising campaigns promoting Canada as a travel destination to the United States and overseas.
