Mikak (c.1740 - October 1, 1795), also known as Micoc, Mykok, or Mecock, was an Inuk women from the area of Okak and Hebron, within what is now the Inuit region of Nunatsiavut in northern Newfoundland and Labrador. In 1767 she was taken as a prisoner during an altercation between Inuit and the British Royal Navy. In 1768 the Governor of Newfoundland, Hugh Palliser, ordered that she and her sons Tuttauk and Karpik be taken to England. While there, she met members of the aristocracy including Augusta, Dowager Princess of Wales and developed a friendship with her. Upon Mikak's return to Labrador, she acted as an intermediary between the German Moravian Christian missionaries and Inuit, facilitating peaceful meetings between both groups. This played a large part in the creation of a permanent settlement and mission in Nunatsiavut.
The Inuit of these communities were relocated to Nain and Hopedale in 1956 and 1959 by the Newfoundland Government.
