Photograph depicts Chief Alphonsine Lafond leading a meeting of the Petequakey's Band (now Muskeg Lake Cree Nation). She was the first elected female chief in Saskatchewan, first female First Nations appointed as justice of the peace and first female senator in the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, among many other firsts.
